Why Not? is built on the Base44 platform, which provides backend infrastructure including data storage, authentication, and email services. As a result, your data is processed and stored through Base44's systems, which are SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant. Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (securely hashed). You may also provide your gender, date of birth, profile photo, and a short bio.
Date Posts: Information you include in a date post — such as your first name, age, gender, activity and restaurant preferences, location, and availability — is stored and displayed publicly to other users.
Messages: Messages sent between matched users are stored to enable the in-app conversation feature.
Feedback & Ratings: Post-date feedback and ratings you submit are stored privately and used to maintain community trust.
Identity Verification: If you choose to verify your identity, you may submit a selfie and government-issued ID photo. These are reviewed by an administrator and then deleted after verification is complete.
Usage Data: We may collect basic usage analytics (e.g. which features are used) to improve the App. No personally identifiable usage data is shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Why Not? is powered by Base44, a software development platform. All data you provide is stored on Base44's servers, which are located in the United States. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
Base44 is certified under SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 and operates under a GDPR-compliant framework. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available at base44.com/dpa.
Sub-processors used by Base44 (such as email delivery services) are bound by strict data processing agreements. For a full list of Base44 sub-processors, refer to their security page at base44.com/security.
Why Not? uses AI-powered features (such as date post title and description suggestions) via Base44's integrated AI services. Prompts sent to these services may include the selections you make within the App (e.g. chosen restaurant, activity, intent). These prompts are not linked to your personal identity and are not stored or used for AI model training.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:
We retain your account and post data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will initiate deletion of your personal data from our systems. Some records may be retained for a limited period for safety and legal compliance purposes.
Identity verification photos (selfie and ID) are deleted after the review is complete and a decision has been made.

Why Not? is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please report it immediately and we will delete the account.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
